Take the tight loop and casting ease of a Scandi compact head and couple it to the versatility of a multi-tip line and you have the basis for the AirFlo Tactical Steelhead shooting head. In order to help cut through the wind and to make casting modest sink tips and larger flies a tad easier, the Tactical Steelhead has a larger tip diameter than the Scandi Compact. Its smooth fromt taper and removeable floating front tip this line makes converting from a floating line to sink tip very easy. If however you need a more aggressive sink tip line than this one we suggest changing to a Skagit compact.
If you were going to go to a river with one line this would be your first choice. At a total length of 37 to 41 feet or 11.3m to 12.5m, this line bridges the gap between the popular shorter two hand heads and the longer Delta family of Spey lines. Designed to cast well with medium and longer rods the Tactical Steelhead is a great line for those who want one line to do it all. Most commonly matched up with 20 lb or 30 lb floating Ridge running line. Tactical Steelheads are available in 5 sizes from 390 grains to 660 grains or 25g to 43g. they are designed to match up with 5 to 9 weight rods.
